In this division technology resources became more clearly defined when the Upper School moved into their Willoughby location, summer 2005.
Teachers are assigned a laptop computer for their exclusive use. Smartboards are located in the Physics Room, the Media Center, Traci’s Room (214), Chris’ Room (20?), Vlad’s Room (311), Jon’s Room (303), Mark’s Room (304), Community Room (204/5) and in the Science Rooms (Pearl Street, renovation of the Science Roooms summer 2006). There are 20 intel Mac-Minis for student use in the Willoughby Street Media Center and two windows machines in the college office.
There are two TV/VCR/DVD units assigned to the Willoughby building which are available for use by ‘sign-up’ online. Other equipment is available - digital cameras, digital video cameras, digital projectors, microphones- for faculty and student use via “Equipment Request Forms” located both online and outside the tech office on the 3rd floor of the Willoughby building and via download on Panthernet.
Major DIMS initiatives:
The major initiatives in the Upper School over the past five years have included:
• 2003/4-the upgrade of the media center (what is now the 4th floor media center) and accessibility of computers/technology resources for students
• 2004/5-the building of the Willoughby Street Building (including network infrastructure planning and synchronization of communications and data systems with the Pearl Street building)
• 2003/ongoing- the updating of the curriculum for the required 9th grade computer literacy course
• 2003/ongoing- updating the media/technology electives for upper school students
• 2006/7- the combination of the 9th grade Computer Literacy with Study Skills to create the year-long Study Skills & Computer Literacy Course
